Youth Services

Welcome to Youth Services. Our goal is to support the Laurens County community by sharing engaging events and library collections with your family. Our staff is always available to assist with reading recommendations to help your children succeed in school and life. Please join us for programs and experiences for your whole family that support early literacy and nurture a lifelong love of reading and learning.

Youth Services
Story Time! 
A weekly program for children -ages birth to ten – of stories, songs, and fun age -appropriate activities.

There are three different story times hosted by the Laurens County System:
  • Preschool Story Time; for ages 3 to 5 – Tuesdays (Clinton) and Wednesdays (Laurens) at 10 AM
  • Mother-Goose-on-the-Loose; for birth to 3 years – Tuesdays (Clinton) and Wednesdays (Laurens) at 10:30 AM
  • Afterschool Adventures; for ages 6 to 10 – Thursdays (Clinton Only) at 4:30 PM

Afternooners (Teen Programming)
These are monthly events focused on tween and teen library patrons (11-18). Parents and guardians are welcome. Information regarding upcoming events for this age group can be found on the library calendar.
Special Youth Events
The Laurens & Clinton Libraries also host additional events throughout the year that are focused for young readers and their families. These events are announced on our library calendar as well as our physical locations. If you have questions about up-coming special events, please contact the library at (864) 681 -7323.

The TumbleBooks collection includes over 500 fiction and non-fiction animated and talking story, and chapter books. Also included in the collection are French and Spanish books found in the ‘Language Learning’ area as well as National Geographic videos, puzzles, games, and songs; all resources designed to teach children the joy of reading and learning.
South Carolina public library patrons have unlimited access to TumbleBooks from computers or mobile devices so this great resource can be used in the library, at home, or on the go.
