HOLIDAY CLOSING SCHEDULE. The Libraries will be closed on Saturday, May 24 and Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day weekend. Also, on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5 for Independence Day.

BOOK SALE. The Friends used book saleroom is open daily at the Laurens Library. Books are added weekly. Bring your selections to the front desk for payment. PLEASE REMEMBER to donate your used books.

STAFF ANNIVERSARIES: Jeannette Cook celebrates her ninth year with the library on May 17. Celebrating birthdays are Leigh Tumblin on May 8, Jeannette Cook on June 10, and Wanda Hall on June 26.

SOME INTERESTING PROGRAMS YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS.

Pam Bennett and Emily Pitt are getting the summer reading programs scheduled. "Catch the Reading Bug!" will be the theme, and programs are on Wednesdays at 10 AM in Laurens and 2 PM in Clinton.

Thanks to generous support from the Friends of the Laurens County Library, some great programs are in store.

For children ages 6 to 12, registration for the Summer Library Program begins on June 2.

The program schedule is as follows:

June 11, Becky’s Box of Puppets "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears";

June 18, Buggy Scavenger Hunt and prizes;

June 25, Laurens County Library’s own expert in nature, "Mr. Joey" Holmes with amazing bug facts and bug hunt;

July 9, the play version of "Who’s In Rabbit’s House";

July 16, Mark Daniel performs magic and makes memories with his pet rabbit;

July 23, Jim Alberti presents the Alberti Flea Circus.

The summer preschool story time schedule is as follows:

In Laurens at 10 AM on Mondays, June 9, 16, 23 and July 7, 14, 21;

In Clinton at 10 AM on Tuesdays, June 10, 17, 24 and July 8, 15, 22.

GOT SUMMER VACATION PLANS?

If you need help planning a summer vacation trip, keep in mind that the Laurens County Library has an excellent selection of travel books for not only South Carolina and the United States but for foreign countries as well. These books list places of interest to visit and give recommendations on accommodations and places to eat.

Also, the Library has travel DVD’s and Videos on a variety of exciting places.

Come by either the Clinton or Laurens Library to look over our selection.

 In addition to travel resources, our libraries have books and magazines to help you with your summer outdoor projects. Whether your interests are gardening, landscaping, building a deck or patio, or cooking outside, you’ll find many resources available.
